West Marine's mobile presence was clumsy and cumbersome at best, and their bottom line was hurting as a result. Customers couldn't easily use the website to purchase products.
Working closely with a Mobile UX Product Manager, and in collaboration with the Desktop UX team, I redesigned the mobile presence of West Marine's website.

West Marine's eCommerce Landing pages were designed and built with no consideration for smaller screens. The pages were unusable on mobile devices, which is a significant portion of their traffic.
Starting with a "mobile first" philosophy, I designed and created several responsive design templates for product landing pages. These pages use a single, production friendly code-base and render well in any browser or screen size.

West Marine's old email template was dated, relying on large images and designed with no consideration for smaller screens. Mobile devices comprise more than half of West Marine's email opens. Their email strategy had to adapt to keep up with their changing audience.

Ad Campaign for
Bosch Tools
Using assets supplied by the client, I designed and created this "Site Stripe Pushdown" advertisement for Bosch Tools highlighting their bestselling items. In addition to the visual design, I wrote the Actionscript classes to enable the interactivity in the ad, as well as several utility classes to extend Amazon's proprietary library of Actionscript classes for tracking, reporting and interactivity.

The first in a series of mobile weather forecasting tools, Tide4cast, is directed towards ocean enthusiasts, surfers, fisherman, professional mariners, and recreational boaters alike. Any one who wants to know what the tides are doing right now.
This app gets NOAA tidal data from a remote server and displays it in an easy to read, mobile optimized presentation. This is a personal project, still in alpha release. This site functions like a native mobile application but is browser based, and completely platform and browser agnostic. It embraces responsive design principles, and works equally well on all screens, and in all modern browsers.

These were a series of quick turnaround advertising experiences for the Gap home page, featuring extensive animation, interaction and video. These ads were developed on an extremely short timeline, using a custom Actionscript 3 library, implementing an abstracted MVC control pattern.

BNQT, a division of USA Today, has a wealth of editorial content at their disposal. They sought out my services to help them monetize it.
I designed and created a suite of dynamically driven advertising products to leverage their content. These products are easily skinnable, and can be customized for any advertiser. They are written in object-oriented Actionscript 3, using the Brightcove platform.

These features use rich-media, interactivity, and readability to drive interaction and advertising revenue. I also designed and developed all of Surfline's Flash editorial tools, tying into Surfline's proprietary CMS.

Pow Pow Patrol is a loose group of athletes and adventurers, dedicated to the pursuit of snow and water sports. This logo design was inspired by the crests of old and established fraternal organizations. The latin motto reads "Brotherhood of Snow and Waves".
